After an official visit over the weekend, an in-home visit Monday night and contemplating with his family this afternoon, he decided Eugene was the right place for him.
"I was still weighing my options after the visit," Hobbs said. "But I talked to my mom about it and made my decision today."
This was the second time Hobbs was contacted by the Ducks in the recruiting process. The first time came early in the season but dwindled away as the season progressed, however Hobbs was ecstatic to hear from the Oregon staff again recently.
"It felt great to talk to Oregon again," he said "Just because of who they are, the conference they play in and the way they win games."
"I'm just looking to get in there and get the ball rolling and learning the offense from coach Frost and coach Helfrich," he said. "They do a lot of similar things we did in high school so I'm looking forward to getting to know the verbage and getting everything going."
With the commitment, Hobbs becomes the first quarterback commit under Helfrich.
"That is great. We'll have a great relationship, he's a great guy so it means a lot."
