LB Michael Lazarus has early leader

Berkeley (Calif.) linebacker Michael Lazarus has one offer on the table but it's another Pac 12 program he calls his dream school.

Michael Lazarus is one of the top linebackers in the West region and first caught our eye after a standout performance at the NorCal NIKE Camp last May. He went out and had a solid year on the field and is getting a lot of recruiting interest at this time.

"California has offered me so far," Lazarus said. "I've been getting interest from tons of schools and I think a few more offers will be rolling in soon here. Oregon is showing a lot of interest and I've already talked to Coach Aliotti a couple of times.

"I've gotten interest from Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Arizona State. I was supposed to meet with Coach Ball a few weeks ago but it got postponed so that will probably happen another time. To be honest, I've just been focusing on school and grinding in the weight room and have put recruiting on the backburner a little."

While recruiting is not the No. 1 priority, Lazarus is planning on a few visits over the spring/summer.

"I'll be going to Cal's Junior Day this weekend (March 2)," Lazarus said. "I also plan to camp with USC and Oregon this summer. I'll also be at the Oakland NIKE Camp in May again.

"Right now, I haven't made a list of early leaders but I can say Oregon is my dream school. I've loved watching them play my whole childhood and really like them a lot. I'm looking forward to going through the recruiting process and seeing how everything plays out."
