Harvey Talks Oregon Offer

Oregon had a busy week, sending out offers to numerous defensive back prospects around the country. One of those targets is El Cerrito (Calif.) wide receiver Jalen Harvey, who discussed the offer and whether he's comfortable being scouted as a defensive back.

Harvey received his offer recently from Oregon defensive backs coach John Neal.

"I got to him while I was working out," Harvey said. "He acknowledged my playing style and said he could see me playing up there with them."

Harvey is a playmaker at wide receiver for El Cerrito, and though he wants to play that position in college, he said that he's open to new things.

"I'll play whatever," Harvey said.

Harvey is one player who won't be traveling around to a lot of camps this offseason, attending a Nike camp in May and attending a camp at USC in June. He said that at some point he plans on visiting Oregon.

"I have to look at my calendar and then I have to get back with the coach to tell him," Harvey said.

With offers from Oregon, Arizona State, California, Washington and Washington State, Harvey is quickly gaining attention from several Pac-12 schools, but said he doesn't have a favorite. For now he's taking his time and enjoying the recruiting process and trying not to get caught up in the hype.

"I'm not that type of person," Harvey said. "I'll just accept (the offers) and see how it goes."
