Two JC Transfers Officially Sign with Ducks

Oregon Men's Head Basketball Coach Dana Altman announced on Wednesday that the Ducks signed two junior college players, forward Elgin Cook and guard Jalil Abdul-Bassit to the the 2013-14 recruiting class. The signing period runs from April 17 until May 15.

According to a media released issued on Wednesday afternoon, Elgin Cook is a 6-6 forward from Milwaukee, Wis., and is transferring from Northwest Florida State where he spent his freshman year. Cook was a first-team All-Panhandle player and was the conference Freshman of the Year. He is the son of former NBA All-Star Alvin Robertson. Cook had a 14.9 point per game average last season and also pulled down 6.0 rebounds per game.

Jalil Abdul-Bassit, 6-4 is a guard from Anchorage, Alaska and played two seasons at North Idaho College. Abdul-Bassit was first-team All-Region According to the media release Abdul-Bassit was Northern Idaho's second leading scorer averaging 13.0 ppg plus pulling down 2.7 rebounds per contest. He was a 45 percent field goal shooter and was 38.5 percent past the 3-point line.

Cook will be a sophomore and Abdul-Bassit a junior this fall.

Oregon now has a total of five players signed up for next season. Besides Cook and Abdul-Bassit, Oregon has signed national letters of intent from forward Jordan Bell (Long Beach, Cal.), forward Christiano Felicio (Brazil) and guard A.J. Lapray from Salem.

Oregon capped off a 28-9 season by winning the Pac-12 Tournament Championship and advanced on the the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16.
