Things Picking Up For Lazarus

Berkeley (Calif.) linebacker Michael Lazarus is starting to pick up steam on the recruiting trail.

Michael Lazarus has the attention of a few Pac-12 schools, holding three offers and sharing contact with a few others. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Berkeley linebacker recently returned from a visit to the University of Southern California.

"USC, they've got high interest in me right now," Lazarus said.

Holding offers from Arizona State, Washington State, and California, as well as Fresno State, Lazarus believes things are starting to pick up on the recruiting trail.

"I'm starting to burst open now," Lazarus said. "It's going to be a fun little ride."

One Pac-12 member Lazarus is interested in hearing more from is Oregon.

"I was talking to Oregon for a minute, but that fell off," Lazarus said. "Hopefully that'll pick back up."

Lazarus was in contact with recruiting coordinator Jim Fisher and hopes that if that contact increases soon it could lead to a visit.

"I do want to go out there and visit," Lazarus said. "Having a school like that in contact with you is big. It's Oregon. That explains itself."

Lazarus has several things that he likes about Oregon and their style of play.

"It's a big program, it's a winning program, successful, fast-paced, it's just an exciting team really," Lazarus said.

As of right now, Lazarus claims to not have a favorite school and said that he will focus on that either mid-way or after next season. He said that he is focusing on schoolwork and will pick up his efforts on the recruiting trail after the school year ends.

"Right now I'm just taking it at my own pace," Lazarus said. "I'm looking to just flow smoothly right now."
