Carew sets up official to Oregon

La Verne (Calif.) Damien long snapper Tanner Carew, discusses his upcoming official visit to Oregon.

Top long snapper Tanner Carew committed to Oregon in June and now has an official visit lined up during the last week of November when the Ducks take on Oregon State in the Civil War. The experience will be a new one for Carew, who is unfamiliar with taking official visits.

"I've never been on an official visit so I don't really know how it works," Carew said. "I know that I fly out and I watch the game, but I'm very excited."

Carew was recruited by special teams coach Tom Osbourne and has remained in contact with the coach on a weekly basis, catching up on football and discussing Carew's academic career. At the end of the summer, Carew took a trip to Eugene with his family to check out the campus and what they have to offer academically.

"My parents were interested in some of the academic stuff," Carew said. "I wanted to take a look around campus more and I loved it."

It was on that trip that Carew began scheduling an official visit with the coaches. The trip will take place at the conclusion of his season so that he wouldn't have to take a short trip.

Carew is highly focused on his academic career at Oregon where he plans on possibly pursuing sports marketing or media. However, on his official visit he plans on enjoying wherever the trip leads him.

"I love it up there," Carew said.
