Arizona Crushing Oregon at the Half

The Oregon Ducks seemed like a team lost for most of the first half as mistakes, penalties and the inability to stop Arizona's D.J. Denker and Ka'Deem Carey. Arizona went into the lockerroom leading 28-9.

Oregon's woes began on the first play of the game when quarterback Marcus Mariota threw his first interception of the year when his pass bounced off Bralon Addison and eventually ended up in Scooby Wright's hands. Arizona moved the ball on nine plays culminating with a six-yard Carey run into the endzone. Oregon was forced to punt on its next possession after three downs and Denker orchestrated a 59-yard drive ending when Denker hit Nate Phillips for a nine-yard TD.

Oregon could only manage a field goal by Matt Wogan in the first quarter to cut the Wildcats lead to 14-3. Arizona though would score again when Denker hit a five-yard scoring pass making it 21-3 at the successful point after.

Oregon managed to score a 67-yard drive on a 1-yard pass from Mariota to Pharaoh Brown but Oregon could not convert on a 2-point conversion.

Arizona extended the lead to 28-9 just before the half when Carey plunged into the endzone for his second TD of the afternoon.

For the game, Denker is 13-for-15 for 142 yards and two TDs. Carey had 95 yards in the first half on 24 carries.

Mariota was 13-for-20, 139 yards and a touchdown and an interception.

Arizona had 278 yards of total offense in the first half to Oregon's 178.

Oregon suffered two turnovers while Arizona did not lose the ball. Oregon also was called for four penalties for minus 30 yards to Arizona one call for a loss of five yards.
