Brown Still at Texas

Oregon's Mark Helfrich and Texas' Mac Brown were on hand on Thursday morning for the Covenant Golf Classic which kicked-off the Valero Alamo Bowl's December calendar of events. The biggest news coming out of the media conference is that Mac Brown is still the head coach of the University of Texas Longhorns.

Mac Brown addressed the speculation that he would be stepping down as head coach of the Texas Longhorns by simply stating his situation "has not changed." Brown further commented that he would meet with University President Bill Powers and new incoming Athletic Director Steve Patterson to discuss the "future."

Brown did not elaborate when those discussions might take place.

Patterson has Oregon connections as he served as President and General Manager of the Portland Trail Blazers before moving on to Arizona State where he served as Athletic Director.

The media conference last approximately 15 minutes and consisted of exchanges of pleasantries between the two head coaches. At one point Brown said that his staff "likes" the Oregon staff and also mentioned he felt that Oregon is a BCS-caliber team that was sidetracked due to injuries.
