Tolman went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored, while Garlick finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and 1 run scored. Shaun Chase added two hits in five at bats and scored a run.
The Ducks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a Garlick sacrifice fly to the deepest part of the ballpark in center field. Tolman scored after reaching on a walk, moving to second on a bunt base hit by Chase and to third on a sacrifice bunt by J.B. Bryant.
Washington tied the game in the bottom of the inning but Oregon answered with a pair of runs in the top of the third to take a 3-1 lead. After walks to Mark Karaviotis and Tyler Baumgartner, Tolman ripped a double into the left field corner scoring both runners to give UO a two-run lead.
The Ducks added two more runs in the sixth on a bases loaded walk by Nick Catalano and a sacrifice fly by Karaviotis. Oregon made it 6-1 with a run in the eighth. Bryant scored from third on a wild pitch for UO.
Washington cut the lead to 6-3 with a pair of bases loaded walks off Garrett Cleavinger in the bottom of the eighth, but Oregon responded with four runs in the top half of the ninth, all coming with two outs. Freshman Austin Grebeck singled to center field to score Tolman, who started the rally with a single. Garlick added a two-run triple into the right-field corner scoring Chase and Grebeck. Kevin Minjares capped the rally with a RBI single to score Garlick.
Tommy Thorpe (4-3) battled into the sixth inning despite allowing the leadoff hitter to reach base in five of his six innings. The Ducks' lefty allowed just one run while scattering eight hits and striking out six.
Oregon and Washington play game two of their series on Saturday at 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
