STANFORD, Calif. - On the eve of the Pepsi Dual, three members of the Oregon track and field men's distance crew competed in the 10,000 at the Stanford Invitational, looking to post a time that would put them in position to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary Round.
The indoor All-American trio of Edward Cheserek, Parker Stinson and Trevor Dunbar ran a controlled race from wire-to-wire, staying in the middle of the pack and finishing within a second of each other. Cheserek crossed the finish line at 28:51.97, with Stinson at 28:51.98 and Dunbar just behind at 28:52.39.
The event marked Cheserek's outdoor debut for Oregon as well as Dunbar's first 10,000-meter race in an Oregon uniform.
The Pepsi Dual against Arizona will begin at 11:25 a.m. at Hayward Field, Saturday. The meet will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks as the first live track and field broadcast in network history.
