Molton Picking Up Steam

Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral defensive back Darrien Molton talks about his latest trip to the Grand Canyon State.

Over a month ago, Chaparral cornerback Darrien Molton said he was motivated to get his name out to more programs and pick up more offers. At the time, Molton had three offers, but has since seen two more roll in. He received an offer from Nevada two weeks ago, and picked up his fourth Pac-12 offer from Utah earlier this week.

"It's really nice seeing some of the schools get more interested in me," Molton said of the increased attention.

More offers could be coming from the Pac-12. Two specific programs have been paying closer attention to the junior in recent weeks.

"I'd say the schools that have been picking it up and talking to me would be the University of Arizona and Arizona State," Molton said. On Monday and Tuesday, Molton traveled to Arizona to check out both schools.

"At both schools I watched their practice," Molton said. "I got to sit down with the defensive backs coaches and talk with them and meet some of the players. That was really cool, I thought."

Molton came away from the visits with the impression that both schools were very interested in him. On the flip side, Molton felt at ease during both visits.

"With both schools I would say I felt really comfortable with the coaches," he said. "I like the area down there. I don't know where I'm going to play right now, but definitely both those places are a spot that I like and could see myself maybe playing there."

Oregon is also staying in contact, with the three-star telling Scout.com that he received a social media message a couple of days ago from a member of the defensive staff.

Going forward, Molton doesn't know what's to come with his recruitment. Unsure of where he's going next, Molton plans on continuing his training and hopes more offers continue to come in.

"I haven't decided what camps I'm going to be going to yet," Molton said. "Right now I'm just training with my 7on7 team."
