Oregon prepares for Arizona in pink

Oregon partners with the Kay Yow fund to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

Despite the Ducks taking Arizona as just another opponent, this game is notable in a lot of different ways. It will make the 100th consecutive sellout at Autzen stadium, a streak that has been active since 1999. Oregon will also be seeing the return of the students which will make the Oregon crowd that much livelier when the Wildcats come to town.

“It’s a tribute to this place, to our fans and our players who have motivated a lot of that. It’s a neat deal. There are a lot of things like that around here. These are rare times, it’s a great atmosphere and it’s a great milestone,” said coach Mark Helfrich.

Oregon will once again be amending their uniforms, adding pink accents to raise awareness for the Kay Yow fund and breast cancer awareness. Last season, the Ducks came out with pink helmets against Washington State. This season they will be trotting out with pink numbers as well as accents throughout their uniforms on their nationally televised game.

“It’s another great opportunity for us to partner with the Kay Yow fund. It was an unbelievably successful venture last year as far as the publicity and also the real dollars that go to cancer research, so it’s a win-win,” said coach Helfrich.

According to the Oregon depth chart, the Ducks will be seeing the return of Jake Fisher on the offensive line. It is very important to have him back not only for this game but also next week when the Ducks head to the Rose Bowl to play UCLA who seems to have found their stride, boat racing the Sun Devils in Tempe.
