Ducks Tired of Cardinal Curse?

Oregon's past two games against Stanford have been, well, a bit of a nightmare. Last year's loss at the Farm saw a lineup in which the Cardinal simply mauled the Ducks' line on both sides of the ball, a hobbled Marcus Mariota coughed the ball up, and the the defense had no answers for the Stanford attack. Fortunately for Oregon, Halloween will have passed when they meet again Saturday at Autzen.

The game was not without a few bright spots, including Rodney Hardrick's pick, and a nice catch by Pharaoh Brown for six. In the end, it was too little too late for Oregon, who left the stadium with a bitter taste and sour loss. Stanford comes into Eugene with a less potent offense than previously. However, the Duck defense has been haunted by poor tackling and inconsistent play in the secondary, that has allowed an average of 462 yards per game. The return of Arik Armstead and continued outstanding play by Joe Walker will likely help, although the outcome will undoubtedly rest on the Oregon offense, with Mariota in stride, Brown and Dwayne Stanford rising up, and Royce Freeman looking for another 100-yard game.
