Ducks Get Past Illinois 77-70

The Oregon Ducks beat Illinois 77-70 almost at the same moment Marcus Mariota was named the 2014 Heisman Trophy winner. Both events were on the road as the Ducks had five players in double-figure scoring led by Freshman Dillon Brooks' 24.

Dillon Brooks was 9-for-15 in field goal shooting and 6-for-7 from the free throw line. Dwayne Benjamin and Joseph Young both tallied 13 while Ahmaad Rorie added 11 and Elgin Cook contributed 10.

Oregon trailed 39-35 and scored 42 in the second half to take the lead and win.

Oregon out rebounded Illinois 41-37 and was slightly better from outside the 3-point line hitting 5-of-13 (38.5 percent) to 7-of-19 (36.8 percent).
