Mariota Named Manning Award Winner

Marcus Mariota added another post-season honor as the Manning Award, created by the All-State Sugar Bowl. The award was based upon votes by media members of the Manning family (Archie, Payton and Eli) and took into account of post-season performances. The award was announced on Friday.

According to a media release by the University of Oregon, Mariota is the first player in the 11-year history of the Manning Award to have won all the major awards including the Heisman Trophy, the Walter Camp and Maxwell player of the year awards, the Davey O'Brien National Quaterback Award and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

The media release also reveal that in the postseason, Mariota was 50-of-73 passing for 671 yards and four touchdowns, with two interceptions. He also ran the ball 18 times for 101 yards and touchdown.
