Men's Basketball Pac-12 Player of the Year!

Oregon senior guard Joe Young was named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year on Monday. Young, the conference's leading scorer was also selected to the Pac-12's First Team. His teammate, junior forward Elgin Cook made the second team All-Pac-12 list.

Young led the Ducks to a second place finish in the conference race after being forecast as the eighth best team in pre-season polls. Young' 19.8 point per game average which was the tops in the conference, helped the Ducks finish strongly by winning the 11 of the Oregon's last 13 games. Oregon has drawn the No. 2 seed in the Conference Tournament that starts on Wednesday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Elgin Cook was selected to the second team All-Pac-12. Over the season, Cook averaged 13.1 ppg and 5.4 rebounds per contest. The honor was the first post-season honor for Cook.

Oregon will play the winner of the Colorado-Oregon State contest (which will be played on Wednesday) on Thursday at 6 p.m. Pacific in a game that will be carried live by the Pac-12 Networks.
