Ducks to Face Oklahoma State in Omaha

The NCAA selection committee made Oregon an eight seed in the Western Region and will face Oklahoma State in the first round of the NCAA playoffs in Omaha, Neb., on March 19.

Oregon, 25-9 will face Oklahoma State, 18-13 on March 19, in Omaha. The Ducks finished strongly with a second place finish in the Pac-12 conference after being predicted to finish eighth by pre-season prognosticators.

Oregon is led by senior guard Joseph Young, the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year. Young was the conference leading scorer at 20.2 points per game and was No. 3 free throw shooter nationally at .918 percent.

Redshirt Elgin Cook, averages 13.2 ppg and freshman forward Dillon Brooks contributed 11.5 ppg this season.

Freshman Jordan Bell is the anchor on defense, averaging 6.1 boards per game and had a total of 86 blocked shots over the course of the season.

Senior guard LeBryan Nash is the leading scorer for the Cowboys at 17.1 ppg, and his backcourt mate, Phil Forte III is second on the OSU scoring list at 15.1 ppg. Senior center Michael Cobbins averaged 5.9 rebounds per game and had a total of 53 blocks this season.

Both teams are coming off losses. OSU lost to Oklahoma 64-49 on Thursday in second round of the Big-12 Tournament. On Saturday night in the Pac-12 Championship game, Oregon lost to Arizona, 80-52.
