Juarez very excited by Oregon offer

Torrance (Calif.) North outside linebacker Mique Juarez picked up a big offer on Tuesday, but what impact does it carry with the four-star USC verbal commit? Find out below.

Mique Juarez may still be verbally committed to USC but that hasn’t stopped other programs from trying to pry him away from the warm climate of Southern California. On Tuesday, the four-star Torrance (Calif.) North outside linebacker picked up a big offer from Pac-12 power Oregon. He talked about the offer with eDuck.com on Tuesday evening.

“I was very excited,” Juarez said. “There was a lot of excitement to it actually. My coach texted me this morning telling me I finally got offered to Oregon.”

A top five prospect at his position nationally and a top 50 prospect overall according to Scout.com, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Juarez committed to USC back in January but he has gone on record saying that he’s keeping his options open

“Right now my relationship with USC it’s, you know, I’m just looking out at the options right now,” Juarez said. “There’s a lot of schools that obviously will catch my eye and interest and Oregon was one of the top picks, or one of the schools I was waiting on.”

His main contact with Oregon has been defensive coordinator Don Pellum and he has had additional second hand contact with wide receivers coach Matt Lubick, who’s been talking with Juarez’s uncle. He’s hoping to establish more contact with Pellum in the near future and wants to take a visit.

“Oregon, that’s one of the schools I’ve been talking to my dad about,” he said. “I’ve been waiting for it you know. I want to take a trip obviously…just to go talk with the coaches and see what’s up there in Oregon.”

On film Juarez hits hard, closes strong, is an aggressive pursuer and shows very capable coverage skills. He talked about why he thinks his skill set will fit in with a defensive scheme like Oregon’s should he flip.

“Well the way I play it’s very aggressive just like Oregon,” he said. “The way they play on defense, they’re fast and they move, like very quick. Me being a big, fast and aggressive person, I think I can fit in with that team or with that defensive group.”
