Ducks Keep Pilots at Bay 5-2

The Ducks put runners on with hits and a string of bunts, and brought in five while leaving 12 men on base; some errant base running by Oregon may have cost an additional run or two. Portland left 8 on base, including a full house in the bottom of the 9th. Oregon's seven pitchers kept the Pilots to six hits, and strong fielding bolstered Oregon's defense.

Mark Karaviotis and Mitchell Tolman combined on a few double-plays, while adding key hits. Freshman Kohl Hostert got the win, as Garrett Cleavinger struck out the final batters to close the game, with the winning run at the plate. The Ducks (23-16) head to USC this weekend in a return to Conference play.
