Jackson picks up Oregon offer

Three-star Elk Grove (Calif.) safety Lamar Jackson will have his pick of the litter when it comes time to make a decision. On Saturday, he added another school to his extensive offer list in Oregon.

Oregon is the latest offer for three-star Elk Grove (Calif.) Franklin safety Lamar Jackson. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect, who ranks among the top six at his position in the West region received the offer from defensive coordinator Don Pellum on Saturday.

"It's big," he said of the offer. "It's exciting. Oregon is one of the best programs on the West coast."

The offer comes on the heels of a successful evaluation earlier in the week when Pellum stopped by Franklin to see what Jackson could do in person.

"He just looked at my transcripts and stuff like that," Jackson said. "He made sure I had a plan for my senior year and everything like that. He liked my size, my speed."

Pellum and Jackson have been building a bond over the last two months leading up to the offer through messages and phone calls. Jackson believes the relationship between them is progressing at a steady pace.

"It's pretty good right now," he said. "But I'm pretty sure it's going to keep growing."

Jackson said he plans on visiting Oregon unofficially in early June and again on an official visit later in the year. He is in no rush to make a decision and told eDuck he'll make the call when he feels the time is right.
