Eifler picks up Oregon offer

Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O’Dowd outside linebacker Camilo Eifler added to his offer list on Tuesday when Oregon came calling. Where do the Ducks stand with the four-star prospect?

Oregon offered four-star Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O’Dowd outside linebacker Camilo Eifler on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Eifler spoke with eDuck.com about the offer, which he received from Ducks defensive coordinator Don Pellum via a Twitter message.

“I was in the car with my dad,” Eifler said. “It was a sigh of relief…they were just in the national championship and a caliber team like that offering me was a big moment.”

According to Eifler, Oregon had been showing interest in him last summer, but communication ceased until recently and then Pellum made a trip to O’Dowd for an evaluation. He said Pellum was impressed by his 6-foot-2, 216-pound frame, speed, and versatility to play multiple positions, which led to the offer.

The next step in the process is a visit. Eifler indicated that he’ll only be visiting schools he believes he could commit to before next season begins.

“Oregon will probably be one of the schools I’ll be choosing from,” he said. “But I’m just going to take this process and really get up there, get a feel for Eugene, get a feel for the academic side and take it from there.”

Although Eifler and Pellum are still building a relationship, everything seems to be progressing smoothly. Eifler loves Pellum’s persona and dress style and harkened back to the camp he attempted last summer for an example of why he thinks highly of the veteran coach.

“When he coached me up at Oregon at the camp I really liked his vibe,” he said. “He was really energetic, knows a lot about the game.”

As of now, Eifler claims he has no leaders, or at least any he’s willing to share publicly. With plenty of time before he plans on announcing his college choice, he’s choosing to let the process play out slowly.

“I’ll be releasing that later,” he said of his potential leaders. “I’m keeping everybody guessing.”
