Heineman Named Player of the Week

Oregon first baseman Scott Heineman was named Pac-12 Player of the Week by the conference on Monday. Heineman hit .562 in four games last week, with three hits in the Ducks win over Oregon State last Tuesday and was 6-for-11 for the 3-game series against UCLA.

Oregon lost to UCLA on Friday night, 4-3, but then rallied to overcome the confrence leading UCLA squad with a pair of extra inning games, 5-4 in 11 innings on Saturday then again in 11 innings on Sunday, by a 4-3 winning margin. The wins propelled the Ducks into the NCAA Baseball regionals. Oregon the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Regional in Springfield, Mo., will face the No. 2 seed, Iowa on Friday (11 a.m. PT, ESPN3).

The Ducks enter the playoffs on a hot streak, going 12-4 in May. Oregon finished the regular season with an overall record of 37-23 and 16-14 in conference play.
