Nigel Knott, 5-11, 174, Germantown HS, Madison Ms., is a 4-star and is the No. 86 player nationally as rated by Scout.com. He had a strong showing at The Opening Finals in Beaverton, Ore., in July. He has good defensive skills with the ability to transition in coverage.
Knott has offers from 14 programs but has six that he is most interested including Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State plus has expressed high interest in two programs, Florida State and Oregon.
One of the reasons why he might be so interested in Oregon is because his father, who played for Ole Miss, was coached by John Neal, now the defensive backs coach for the Ducks.
While Knott has indicated that while he'll make his verbal commitment on Sept. 23, he also intends to take more official visits after making his commitment.
Scout.com evaluation of Knott indicates he is a lean corner and he needs to add weight and strength, but is very fast, a quick-twitch athlete, and he a defensive back with his best football ahead of him. Speed is his best trait and he really recovers well in coverage. Still raw overall and has to improve his play on and off the ball, but the skill-set is there and he has a lot of potential. His length is a strength and he has very loose hips.
