Oregon defensive coordinator Don Pellum could be back on the hotseat after his charges gave up 549 yards of total offense to Eastern Washington University during the opening game of the 2015 season at Autzen Stadium. Pellum felt that his players missed too many opportunities and did not finish plays.
While Oregon's offense bailed out the defense on Saturday, the Ducks were playing an FCS team. EWU is a power at that level, but the effort put by the Oregon players have brought up several questions regarding intensity, the scheme the players were put in and the motivation they had entering the game.
Pellum recognized his team's sluggishness and vowed to work on the root causes of the problems this week.
Oregon survivied this game but will be put to the test next week when it travels to East Lansing, Mich., to take on the No. 6 Michigan State Spartans.
