Justin Herbert, a 6-foot-5 quarterback out of Sheldon High School just down the road from the University of Oregon in Eugene, has announced he has committed to UO via his Twitter account.
"It's been a dream of mine growing up, and I'm excited to announce my commitment to the University of Oregon," Herbert stated in the message on Thursday night.
The two-star prospect will join walk-on and fellow Sheldon quarterback alum Taylor Alie, who received ample playing time last week at Colorado in the wake of Vernon Adams' injury and Jeff Lockie's ineffectiveness. Herbert has thrown for 1220 yards and 14 TDs while throwing only two interceptions through four contests so far in his senior season. Those stats have helped sixth-ranked Sheldon to a 3-1 record, with the Irish's lone loss coming to undefeated and top-ranked Jesuit in a high-scoring 61-55 overtime affair.
