Vernon Adams and Charles Nelson named Players of the Week

For the first time this season, two players were named Player(s) of the Week in the Pac-12 Conference. Vernon Adams, Jr., was named Offensive Player of the Week and Charles Nelson was tabbed as the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Adams was splendid in Oregon's 61-55 win over Arizona State last Thursday night by throwing for 315 yards, on 23-of-40 passing for four touchdowns, including a pivotal TD pass to Dwayne Stanford that tied the game after the successful point after to send the game to overtime. During the overtime periods, Adams hit Stanford again in the first overtime period then in the third overtime found Bralon Addison who was able to successfully drag his left foot to allow the touchdown catch.

Adams was honored by the conference for the first time this year.

Nelson, also being honored as Player of the Week for the first time took a kickoff just inside the endzone and returned the ball for 100 yards to get Oregon back into the game following a success PAT, 31-27. As a safety in the game, Nelson was the game's leading tackler with 15 tackles.

Oregon beat Arizona State following three overtime sessions..The Ducks are now 5-3 for the season, and 3-2 in conference play.
