Six different receivers caught an Adams pass for six points, with Royce Freeman rumbling for 147 yards and adding another 50 receiving.
Oregon’s defense continued to show signs of improvement, largely containing a potent USC offense. Pressure brought by Deforrest Buckner and Alex Balducci kept Cody Kessler on his toes, with the defense recording a total of 5 sacks, including a key strip by Arrion Springs that created a turnover, deflating a last gasp effort by the Trojans.
Royce Freeman plowed 147 yards of tough turf, averaging 7.3 yards per carry, while Charles Nelson again contributed mightily on both sides, catching one TD pass and busting up another on defense, with a bone-crushing hit on a Trojan receiver.6
In all, this was an increasingly balanced victory against a good team, and sets the Ducks up to finish strong in next week’s Civil War game.
Oregon’s chance to play for the PAC-12 championship was dashed late last night, as Cal couldn’t muster what they needed to knock off Stanford. Nevertheless, the Ducks are positioned for a respectable Bowl invitation, and should give the fans two more games to enjoy and the Ducks two more opportunities to Win The Day.
