Oregon beats Oregon State 52-42 in the 119th Civil War game.

Oregon sputtered on defense but sizzled on offense in the annual matchup with Oregon State. After taking a commanding 31-7 lead at halftime, the second half began slowly, and fans feared that Oregon would let this one slip by.

The Ducks defense was soft on the edges and allowed some big plays by the Beavers on the ground. While the secondary showed signs of continued improvement, some slips and misses provided OSU to come within three points in the fourth quarter.

However, the Oregon offensive juggernaut was largely in control, behind Vernon Adams’ passing and playmaking, Royce Freeman’s bruising and brisk running and Bralon Addison’s continuous threat, ultimately scoring 3 TDs.

Duck fans were treated to an exciting Civil War, if not always a great game, and flashes of brilliance from Taj Griffin, Kirk Merritt, and of course Mr. Charles Nelson, on both sides of the line.

The Ducks now have a spell to enjoy their Senior Banquet and await the outcome of bowl offerings, before getting back to the business of finishing the season and awarding the departing seniors a final post-season win.
