Oregon and TCU to face off in the Alamo Bowl on Jan. 2, 2016.

For the second in three years, the Oregon Ducks will be spending part of the Christmas Holiday in San Antonio, Texas in the Alamo Bowl. On January 2, 2016, the Ducks will face the TCU Horned Frogs.

The No. 15 Oregon Ducks finished the season with a 9-3 record and are on a six-game win streak. TCU, ranked No. 11, finished 10-2. Both teams ended up the No. 2 team in their respective conferences.

TCU had won eight straight games before dropping a 49-29 loss to Oklahoma State on November 7. Quarterback Trevone Boykin was a roll before injuring an ankle against Kansas on Nov. 14, he missed the Oklahoma game (TCU lost, 30-29) but was able to play in TCU’s win in double-overtime 28-21 over the then No. 5 team in the country, Baylor.

Oklahoma has been selected as one of the four teams in the College Football Playoffs.

Similarly, Oregon’s Vernon Adams injured his index finger on his right (throwing) hand in the first game of the season against Eastern Washington. Wearing a protective glove on his throwing hand, Adams faced Michigan State (also a selectee to the CFP) in a losing cause 31-28. Adams sat out the Georgia State game but was suited up and saw limited action against Utah, in a game that the Ducks lost, 62-20.

Adams sat out the next two games, including the 45-38 double-overtime loss to Washington State. He finally returned to line up against Washington which the Ducks won 26-20 and played in every game since recording six straight wins, including victories over Stanford and USC.

Stanford will play in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 2016. USC will face Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl on December 30.

The Valero Alamo Bowl is played at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio. Oregon beat Texas on Dec. 30, 2013 by a score of 30-7.
