Nobody's Darlin yet

Alan Darlin is a 6-1, 230-pound linebacker from Elk Grove (Calif.) Laguna Creek, and Alan was one of the top linebackers at the Stanford Nike camp. He ran a 4.84 40, jumped 29.6 inches in the vertical jump, repped 185 pounds 16 times and had a blistering 4.00 shuttle time. Those numbers, as well as his game film, are getting Alan noticed, with the proof being in the colleges that have already offered him scholarships.

"I've still got a lot of thinking to do," Alan told this week. "I'm still in the recruiting game. I want to go somewhere where I can be comfortable with the coaches, team and the location. And every school I've talked to, I've met a lot of nice people."

On top of his impressive physical stats, Darlin was also first-team all-state as a multi-purpose player and took home first-team all-league and all-city honors as well in 2002. He attended Cal's one-day camp, one he described as, "Good. The coaches were cool. It wasn't very long, we didn't get to take a tour or anything like that. We did some testing and then position work."

Darlin is going to take advantage of an off week in August to do some unofficial scouting. "I'm going to take unofficial visits to Washington, Oregon State and Oregon in August and I'm going to Nebraska's first game of the season against Oklahoma State," he said. "And then the weekend after that I'll be going to the Fresno (State) - Oregon State game in Fresno."

Alan currently has scholarship offers from Nebraska, Washington, Oregon State, Fresno State, Wyoming, Idaho and UNLV, with no leader named.
