Oregon notches big home win over USC.

Oregon returned home after a split on the road to face the USC Trojans. The Ducks needed both solid offensive and a controlling defensive effort, which they found tonight in Matthew Knight Arena.

While the Oregon offense was potent led by Elgin Cook’s 26 points, the defense prevailed in containing USC and establishing a commanding lead at 14:37 in the second half, when the lead began to stretch out to 15 points with under six minutes to play.

USC brought the game to within seven points down the stretch, but the Duck defense kept the Trojans at bay and came away with an 89-80 win.

Oregon now rests for a day before welcoming the UCLA Bruins on Saturday.
