Riley Smith is given a scholarship to play at Oregon.

According to the Idaho Statesman (Boise), wide receiver Riley Smith has accepted a scholarship from the University Oregon and will be enrolled in time for the start of fall camp. Smith is originally from Timberline High School in Boise but spent the last two years at Ventura Junior College in Ventura, California.

The Idaho Statesman indicates that Smith had 60 catches for 783 yards and 10 touchdowns while at Ventura.

Smith graduated from Timberline HS in 2012 with no Division I scholarship offers, though he did have an opportunity to walk on at Boise State. Unfortunately, he was unable to enroll due to academic reasons and entered Snow College in St. George, Utah instead. Smith was unable to compete while at St. George due to injury and in 2013 enrolled at Venura and played there for the 2014 and 15 seasons.

Smith apparently will fill the spot vacated by Kirk Merritt who has transferred due to family reasons.

Scout's database indicates that Smith ran 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds.
