Oregon starts the 2016 football season and Mark Helfrich is pleased with the condition his team is in.

The Oregon Ducks opened fall camp on Monday with media day and two practices, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Head Coach Mark Helfrich was pleased with the condition his team was in but said the team has a lot of work to do to get ready for the season.

Helfrich was particularly pleased with the physical condition of his team following summer workouts. Last year, the team at times seemed out of shape and there were questions about the attendance of the summer workouts. However this year, Helfrich indicated that the workouts were the best attended ever at Oregon.

Helfrich also said that the only noticeable change from spring ball (other than the incoming players) was that linebacker Paris Bostick had left the program "to pursue" other interests.

Questions were asked about the status of Devon Allen, who is now participating in the Rio Olympics, and the headman said the team was fully behind Allen and looks forward to his return following the Olympics.

Oregon held a practice prior to the start of Media.. The first practice was in shells and a helmet and the second practice will be held this afternoon concluding around 4:30 p.m.

No assistant coaches were available for interviews during the noon luncheon/Media Day held in the Autzen Club, however the assistants will be available following practice.
