Oregon freshman quarterback Justin Herbert talks to media on Monday as Ducks prepare for Virginia

Oregon freshman quarterback Justin Herbert spoke to reporters following practice on Monday as the Ducks prepare for Virginia on Saturday. The game this weekend starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be carried on ESPN.

Justin Herbert made his college debut last Saturday and even though he only was in for one snap that resulted in a handoff, Herbert has been the surprise of fall camp. He is currently No. 2 on Oregon's depth chart.

Last night, Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich was asked if there is any plan to give Herbert more repetitions in future games in order for the freshman to get more playing experience. Helfirch said that the situation will dictate the amount of time Herbert plays and there is no specific plan to put him into the game for the sole purpose of gaining experience.

Last week, even though the Ducks scored 53 points to FCS Cal Davis, the Oregon coaching staff was no confident enough to allow the freshman into the game, even when the Ducks were always up by at least two touchdowns in the second half.

While he only had the one snap to his credit, Herbert's enthusiasm was no deminished. He is working hard to prepare for the next contest against Virginia and will be ready to go anytime the coaches call his number.
