Ducks take on Virginia on Saturday

This has been a very exciting three days for Oregon linebacker Troy Dye. On Saturday he made his first collegiate start for the Ducks against Cal Davis. He responded by making 11 tackles (seven solos), four TFLs including one sack and blocking a field goal. For that performance he was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week. On Monday, he was one of the first players requested by media to talk about last week as Oregon prepares for Virginia.

Dye has taken all the attention with an obvious grain of salt; he is more interested on the task at hand -- preparing for Virginia on Saturday.

When asked about being named Pac-12 Player of the Week, he said it hadn't really sunk in, and that while nice, he is a "team" guy first and was also quick to point out how much talent there is on this Oregon defense.

That should endear him to the other players more, if they weren't impressed with Dye done already.

Dye have more opportunity to excell this week as Oregon takes on Virginia from ACC this Saturday, and while Virginia struggled against Richmond in the opener, the Ducks should expect a tougher game than they had with UC Davis of the FCS Big Sky Conference.

No matter who the Ducks play, it is clear Dye will be ready to go.
