Ducks defeat ASU 54-35

In just his third start, Justin Herbert joined an elite group of Oregon quarterbacks by throwing for 489 yards to lead the Ducks in their first conference win on Saturday. The Oregon air assault was aided by 245 net yards on the ground, led by Tony Brooks-James with 132 and one TD. The Duck defense was good enough to prevent the Sun Devils from catching and passing Oregon throughout the game.

The passing game was spread fairly evenly among Pharaoh Brown, Jalen Brown, Johnny Mundt,  Darren Carrington and Charles Nelson,

Herbert was able to connect for four of Oregon’s six touchdowns. Aidan Schneideradded four field goals; while some fans decried every decision to kick on fourth down, the kicking game added 12 sure points, and ultimately may have won the day for Oregon.

Defensively, Oregon showed some signs of improvement in tackling, coverage, and pressure, which resulted in three sacks and three picks. Strong performances from Jimmie Swain, Tyree Robinson and Justin Hollins helped keep a lid on a hobbled ASU offense, which still managed to rack up 468 total yards and 35 points.
