Leavitt dips into the state of Missouri for a defensive lineman

DE Ronnie Perkins, 6-3, 260, Lutheran HS North, St. Louis, Mo., is a 3-star recruit for the class of 2018 and this week received a Christmas present in the form of an offer from Oregon.

Perkins told eDuck.com that Oregon's defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt

"I've been watching Oregon for a long time since Dennis Dixon was QB to be exact,” Perkins said. “I'm excited to get to know more about the program during my recruitment.”

While he’s never been to the West Coast before, distance is not a factor for him. Also, Leavitt’s contact with him is the first time Perkins has been in contact with Leavitt, as Perkins was not recruited by Leavitt when the latter was the defensive coordinator at Colorado.

As a high school defensive end, Perkins clearly would like to stay on the defensive side of the ball, and believes his athleticism is one of his strengths.

Perkins currently has 16 offers (including Oregon) and it will be interesting to see how his recruiting develops headed into the spring and summer of 2017.
