The Oregon coaching staff make an effort to secure the Oregon borders for this 2017 recruit.

Sheldon High School has produced several Pac-12 quality players and none better than offensive tackle Cody Shear, 6-4, 285. Currently a verbal commitment to Arizona, Shear had a surprise today when the entire Oregon coaching staff dropped in to see him. Here is a transcript of eDuck.com's conversation with Shear.

Cody Shear

Hi Cody, have you had contact with the new Oregon Duck coaching staff?

CS: Hi, yeah the whole staff showed up at school today.

What did the coaches have to say today at school? Did you know they were coming by?

CS: I had no clue they were going to stop by the school. They told me that they wanted to stop by the introduce themselves and get to meet me in person.

Wow that must have been a wild scene?

CS: It was definitely unexpected. I was introduced to all of the coaches and they just basically told me that I am on their radar and that I can bet on hearing from them soon.

Did you have contact with old staff? Did they offer you?

CS: I was in contact with the old staff before I committed to Arizona. I did not have an offer.

Do you know Braxton Burmeister and Darrian McNeal at all?

CS: Yes, I know both of them; I actually talked to Braxton a couple hours ago. He is stoked to be a Duck. I was really excited to block for both of them at UA. They are both great players!

Thank you for your time

CS: Thank you.
