Duck LHP honored for dominating performance Friday.

(Courtesy UO Athletic Department) Eugene, Ore. – Junior David Peterson has been named a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week following his dominating effort against Mississippi State in a 1-0 win on Friday, March 3.

The Ducks’ lefty picked up the win after holding the Bulldogs scoreless through eight innings while striking out a modern-program record 17 hitters. Peterson fanned multiple batters in seven of his eight innings and allowed just three hits while walking none.

The award is the second of Peterson’s career. He also earned the honor after beating UC Santa Barbara in the series clinching game last March.

Peterson will also be featured as part of the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Gold Standard Performance of the Week competition. He will be a part of a twitter poll (@USAGoldenSpikes) that will allow fans to vote for what they think is the best performance of the weekend. The winner will be announced on Thursday.
