Oregon DE Jalen Jelks

A theme that is repeated over and over when talking to Oregon players and coaches is this: Competition. No one is assured a spot on the Oregon Ducks football team. Players, regardless of experience, pre-season hyperbole or accolades is guaranteed playing time if they do not win the job in practice; that is Oregon Head Coach Willie Taggart's policy and is accepted by every coach and player that calls themselves a Duck.

On Friday, RS junior DE Jalen Jelks is the latest to echo that word -- competition. According to Jelks, no one is assured a job and they must win it. Jelks is obviously buying into the concept as he speaks to reporters and repeats the word -- competition.

On Saturday, fans will have an opportunity to watch the Ducks practice at Jesuit High School in Portland. Practice and competition will start at 2 p.m. with gates opening up at 1:30 p.m.
