J.T. Shrout

Quarterback J.T. Shrout has been in frequent contact with Oregon coaches.

Quarterback J.T. Shrout has a total of nine offers and the signal caller from William S. Hart High School in Newhall, Calif., would very much like to add Oregon to that list. He's been in frequent contact with Oregon. Read on to see what he has to say about the Ducks and his recruitment.,

Hello J.T, how is recruiting going, have you talked with the Ducks recently? Coach Arroyo?

JTS: Yes, I have.

Congrats on the Cal offer by the way. When was the last time you talked with Coach Arroyo, how did that talk go?

JTS: Thank you. I talked with him on the phone a day or two ago (5/30/17). We text regularly, just to see how each other are doing.

How much interest in the Ducks do you have at this point, have you ever visited the campus?

JTS: I have not visited the campus; I am very interested in Oregon.

Has coach Arroyo had the chance to visit you and watch you throw yet?

JTS: Yes, he came down two weeks ago and liked what he saw. Wants to get me in front of Coach Taggart at a camp this June.

Sounds great, which camp?

JTS: My dad has the info actually. I think Occidental or Redlands College.

What do you know about the Ducks, what has you very interested?

JTS: Well they have a great history for their football program; have been one of the best PAC 12 schools, and one of the best schools in the country. I am also very excited to see what Coach Taggart and Arroyo do this season.

Can you walk me through what it is like to throw in front of college coaches?  Are you nervous, how is the workout conducted? Run a 2-minute drill?

JTS: Coach Arroyo came down to Hart HS. and asked Coach Herrington to see me throw live. I took some of my receivers out, and we ran through all the routes we do at my school. Did some throwing on the run, and then did anything else he wanted to see. I finished the workout and thanked him for coming out and that was it.

Interesting, about how long was it? Does he say anything as you throw? Was he by himself?

JTS: Was about 30 minutes. We do not really talk other than saying hello for the day.

What is your current height/weight? What plans do you have for the summer/camps/visits?

JTS: 6-3, 190, and hope to get to all the schools that have offered.

How many offers do you have at this point?

JTS: Nine offers right now.

Do you play any other sports, what do you like to do for fun or away from sports?

JTS: Will be running track again, used to play baseball up until freshman year. Love fishing, playing with my dogs, hanging with my friends, and family.

Thanks for the update JT!

JTS: Thank you.
