The Ducks are coming to Portland

The 2003 version of the Papè Jam will be played on Saturday, December 6th, at the Rose Garden in Portland. The Oregon women will start the double-header off when they take on Colorado State with tip off scheduled for 3:30 p.m. with the Men's game against Marshall following at approximately 6 p.m.

All-American candidate senior Luke Jackson and fellow seniors James Davis and Andrè Joseph, lead the Men's team into action this season. The Ducks are coming off a successful 23-10 season and a Pac-10 Tournament Championship. Last season, the No. 7 Ducks defeated the No. 14 Kansas Jayhawks 84-78 before a national television audience and 20,762 screaming fans, the most ever to attend a college basketball game in the state of Oregon. The 2003 version of the Ducks is young and talented with six sophomores, two red shirt freshmen and three true freshmen vying for playing time and a roster spot. Ernie Kent is head coach of the Men's team and is in his ninth season at Oregon.

"With the generous support of the Papé group, the Papé Jam has grown into a wonderful event that has established its own tradition," Kent said. "We look forward to playing Marshall University and bringing another outstanding Papé Jam to Portland this season."

Seniors Catherine Kraayeveld and Kayla Steen lead the Women along with juniors Andrea Bills, Kedzie Gunderson, Corrie Mizusawa and Brandi Davis. The Women defeated BYU, 80-78 in last year's Papè Jam. The Women finished with a 12-16 record last season. Bev Smith is in her third year as head coach for the Woman.

The Oregon men and women are a combined 10-0 in the Papé Jam.

"This is the fans best chance to see the best Men's and Women's basketball teams in the northwest at a very affordable price," said Jerè Hanks ESPN Regional. "With the continued success of the Ducks and the scarcity of tickets at Mac Court, the Papè Jam is a great deal for Oregon Duck fans."

Tickets are available through Ticket Master, with great seating remaining. Those travelling to Portland for the game can stay at the Downtown Embassy Suites, 503-279-9000. Ask for the Papè Jam rate!
