Ducks practice in El Paso.

Oregon held practice today at the Sun Bowl in preparation for Wednesday's game with Minnesota. Two players were held out, thinning a depleted linebacker and receiving corps.

Junior linebacker Jerry Matson was held out for precautionary reasons and freshman wide receiver Kyle Weatherspoon pulled a hamstring.

The Ducks are now down senior Kevin Mitchell, sophomore Justin Andrews at inside linebacker, David Martin and Reggie Kerney at outside linebacker. Junior Ramone Reed is not yet with the team.

Witherspoon's injury means that converted quarterback Jason Fife could be the No. 3 receiver. Fife did run routes during the practice session.

The Ducks will hold a closed practice tomorrow.

The game is scheduled for kickoff at 12:15 p.m. MST and will be carried on CBS.
