Grant lineman is a load

Ndamukong Suh, 6-5, 265, Portland (Ore.) Grant HS, could be the best prospect in the 2005 football recruiting class in the state of Oregon. The big defensive end has just finished playing basketball for the Generals and was a power forward.

Suh is going to get a lot of attention this season and from some very surprising places.

"Just watch and see how much attention he'll get from SEC schools," said Greg Barton, of Air Attack Camps as he pointed to Suh during the Air Attack camp held at the Moshofsky Center, University of Oregon on Sunday (April 11, 2004) afternoon. "That's what you see down south."

Suh's sister is an athlete at Mississippi State, but the Portland native already has offers from Oregon and Oregon State. He's also hearing from Nebraska, Stanford Arizona State, Boise State and a number of Ivy League schools. Ivy League -- does that mean he has good grades? Yes it does. Suh carries a 3.31 GPA and is interested in engineering, but acknowledges if the school is the right place for him he can make things work. His father owns a mechanical engineering business and someday Suh may just take over. He'd also like to become a pilot and thinks architecture is area he'd be interested in.

Suh is planning on attending the Nike Camp at Texas A&M and Stanford this spring.

Looking around the Moshofsky Center, Suh had one comment, "very impressive."

TheInsiders' Chris Fetters will post video on Suh's performance at Air Attack camp later tonight.
