Here are some names for consideration:
1. Bill Musgrave, currently the offensive coordinator at Virginia, Musgrave has been an offensive coordinator in the NFL at Carolina and Philadelphia. Musgrave was a quarterback coach with the Raiders. Musgrave was a backup quarterback in the NFL with San Francisco, Denver, Dallas and Indianapolis. Quarterbacks who have benefited from Musgrave's tutelage was Steve Beuerlein the year Beuerlein was selected All-Pro. Musgrave also worked closely with Payton Manning at Indianapolis. One other factor to consider about Musgrave, he finished his collegiate at Oregon as the all-time leading passer and had set 15 school records as a quarterback.
2. Andy Ludwig, currently the offensive coordinator for Fresno State and graduated from Portland State in 1986. Ludwig has been at Fresno State four years and has developed two notable quarterbacks during his time with the Bulldogs. Ludwig coached Billy Volek who now plays for Tennessee in the NFL. Ludwig also has help develop David Carr who many feel will be a first round NFL draft pick next spring. Ludwig coached at Boise State prior to his stint at FSU and was instrumental in developing Tony Hilde. Ludwig has also coached at Augustana (S.D.) College, Utah, Idaho State and Portland State.
3. Chris Petersen was wide receiver coach for the Ducks from 1995 until last season when he accepted the position of offensive coordinator with Idaho. Some of Peterson's players at Oregon include Cristin McLemore, Pat Johnson, Tony Hartley, Damon Griffin, Marshaun Tucker and Keenan Howry. Peterson also coached Portland State and Pittsburgh. Petersen is a graduate of UC Davis.
So who might be interested in the Ducks that could fill the Bill? Coming so close the Chris-mas, the new coach should have all the qualities of the past Andy should have the spirit of the season!
