NFL Ducks in Action

Oregon alumni saw plenty of action in the first week of play in the National Football League. The combined record for NFL Ducks this week is 6-5. <br><br> Reuben Droughns, fullback for the Denver Broncos, had two kickoff returns for a 29.0 yard average. Meanwhile, Junior Siavii, defensive tackle, Kansas City Chiefs recorded one tackle (a sack) in the 34-24 Denver win.

Rashad Bauman, corner back, Cincinnati, had one tackle in a 31-24 loss to the Jets.

Josh Bidwell, punter, Tampa Bay, had nine punts, averaging 40.1 yards, with three landing inside the 20-yard line, and a long of 54 yards. The Buccaneers lost to the Washington Red Skins, 16-10.

A.J. Feeley, quarterback, Miami, was 21-for-31, 168 yards, one touchdown and one interception, in a 17-7 loss to Tennessee. Feeley came in off the bench to relieve starter Jay Fielder. Feeley is expected to be the Dolphins starter next week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Joey Harrington, quarterback, Detroit, led the Lions in breaking a 24-game losing streak on the road, with a 20-16 win over Chicago. Harrington was 14-for-26, 188 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Keith Lewis, safety, San Francisco, blocked a Chris Mohr punt, but the Atlanta Falcons prevailed 21-19.

Maurice Morris, running back, Seattle, took over running chores when starter Shawn Alexander went down with a sore knee. Morris had four carries for 10 yards and also had two kick returns for a 23.0-yard return average. According to the Associated Press, Alexander's injury is not serious. The Seahawks beat New Orleans 21-7.

Igor Olshansky, defensive tackle, San Diego, had two tackles and two assisted tackles in San Diego's 27-20 win over Houston.

Onterrio Smith, running back, Minnesota, was the leading rusher for the Vikings against the Dallas Cowboys with 15 carries for 76 yards. Smith also had one pass reception for 63 yards and a touchdown in Minnesota's 35-17 win. Smith also recovered one fumble and averaged 18.0 yards from three kickoff returns.

George Wrighster, tight end, Jacksonville, caught two passes for 12 yards, with a long of 11 yards, in a 13-10 Jaguars win over the Buffalo Bills.
