Top JC LB Headed to Oregon

With recruiting starting to heat up, the Ducks filled an important need for linebacker depth when Tate Pittman from Scottsdale Community College recently committed to the Ducks and is expected to sign a letter of intent on Wednesday.

Tate, who played his high school ball in faraway Virginia was a two year starter for Scottsdale, yet quickly made a name for himself in Arizona. This season the 6-1, 230 lb. Pittman was an imposing force, leading his team with 118 tackles, with an impressive 80 of those being solos! Always around the ball, he also had 5 tackles for a loss, caused four fumbles, sacked the QB twice, recovered three fumbles and added one interception. Word is that in Pittman, Oregon is signing a David Moretti clone, which wouldn't be bad at all.

After this season at Scottsdale, the awards started rolling in. Tate Pittman was named NJCAA 2nd team All-American, 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All-Region and rated the 41st best juco player in the country by His coach also adds that, "Tate is a real good man and a real good citizen." Pittman chose Oregon over Penn State, Arizona, Missouri and Texas A&M. According to, he is a midterm transfer and should be available for Spring drills.
