Stewart impressive against Tumwater

Friday night, at Tumwater Stadium (Wash.) Timberline High School phenom Jonathan Stewart's, latest "man playing against boys" performance was front of a sellout Tumwater High School homecoming crowd. The last time I saw such a dominating running display, was when Corey Dillon and his Husky offensive line manhandled the Ducks and Rich Stubler's famed "three yards off the line of scrimmage defense" in Eugene.

Stewart (nicknamed Snoop), is a "glide-till-daylight type of runner" with take-off speed, having a physical stature reminiscent of former Duck running back Saladin McCullough. Snoop finished the evening with eye-popping statistics: six touchdowns, 263 yards on 20 carries. His touchdown runs were of seven yards, 40 yards, 37 yards, five yards, 12 yards and one yard. Timberline beat Tumwater 56-35. Stewart, an "I" back on offense, also played safety on defense, while handling kick-off and punt return duties. Look for Stewart to contribute immediately as a true freshman running back and kick off return specialist wherever he ends up in college.

I never got the impression that Stewart's heart was into defense and that he has a Dante Rosario (high school two-way) type of get-to-ball defensive speed and instincts. This guy is the "real deal" long yardage- game-braking player that Oregon needs in their offensive arsenal!

Oh, almost forgot, sitting in the crowd cheering on the "Snoop" was Jordan Carey. I hope that's a plus!
