Annual Civil War Blood Drive

The University of Oregon will be saving thousands of lives this football season during the 3rd annual Civil War Blood Drive, November 1 – 17. The university with the most donors will be announced as Civil War Blood Drive Champions at the Civil War game on November 20!

Last year both schools collectively donated over 6,500 units of blood to help your fellow Oregonians. This year, our goal is 9,000 units of blood!

The holiday season will once again impact the blood inventories of American Red Cross and Lane Memorial Blood Bank. While holiday events distract us from regular blood donation in November and December, it's important to keep our community blood supply filled. The blood collected during the Civil War Blood Drive will help ensure that the medical needs of your family, friends, and neighbors are met all winter long.

Please call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or 541-484-9111 by November 17th to schedule a donation on behalf of your Ducks at any blood drive across the state. In addition to helping the Ducks win the competition, you'll help save as many as three lives.

Kickoff for the Blood Drive will be 3:00 pm on November 1 at the Portland Donor Center, and at the PDC will be a raffle of Civil War Blood Drive t-shirts, UO and OSU branded merchandise, and two Civil War game tickets. A special thank you goes out to Tim's Chips who will give out UO and OSU branded chips for each donor.

For more information about the Blood Drive, visit the UO Alumni Association website at or contact the UO Alumni Association office at 541.346.5656.

Both universities will be competing for the title, but the real winners are the patients who receive the gift of life. Together, we can save a life!
