Ducks Lead For Dream Team RB

Oregon's awesome 2001 season may only now be beginning to pay recruiting dividends, as some top prospects are now zeroing in on the Ducks. The latest news is that Long Beach Poly Dream Team running back, Hershel Dennis currently lists Oregon as his leader.

Yes, Dennis told Superprep today that the Ducks are a pretty solid leader over USC, Washington and UCLA for his services. Hershel recently cancelled a scheduled visit to Florida and will visit Eugene with Poly teammate and fellow PrepStar Dream Teamer, Darnell Bing, who is one of the top safeties in the country on January 18th. Dennis will graduate from high school in January and could immediately enroll at the University of Oregon to participate in spring football. This would greatly enhance his chances of earning playing time as a true freshman.

The 5-11, 185, 4.4 forty, Dennis is considered one of the top running backs in the country and the type of player who will make an early impact in his career. Superprep has him on their Elite 50 list, which reflects their picks for the top fifty players nationally at any position. As a junior Hershel was named the CIF Player of the Year in California after rushing for 2106 yards and 32 touchdowns. This year he added another 1719 rushing yards and 24 more TDs for the CIF Division 1 champs. He is described as a hard worker and a natural leader. Hershel Dennis is a big time talent and at least for now, he appears to be looking hardest at the Ducks.
